Tenonkit

Privacy

Tenonkit keeps your work on your computer. Here is exactly what it sends, and what it never collects.

Last updated 28 October 2026

What the app sends

One request when it starts: is there a newer version? That’s all Tenonkit sends on its own. If you sign in to Mortise, what you send it goes to our server and an AI provider.

What it never collects

  • Your projects
  • Analytics or usage
  • Crash reports
  • Your files
  • Cookies or ad IDs

Your work stays on your computer

Your projects, their preview images, your themes, your settings, the window’s position and a log file are all saved in %APPDATA%\Tenonkit on your computer. They are never uploaded, and we have no way to see them.

The log records things like the app starting and errors, to help with problems. It stays on your computer unless you choose to send it to us.

Mortise, the AI mode

Mortise is optional. Everything else in Tenonkit works without it and without an account, and nothing below applies until you sign in.

Your account. Signing in happens on tenonkit.com. We keep your email address and your password (stored only as a one-way hash) on our own server. If you sign in with GitHub or Google, we receive your email address and name from them instead of a password. The app keeps its sign-in encrypted on your computer.

What you send to Mortise. Your messages go to our server, which passes them to OpenRouter to get a reply from an AI model. Mortise uses free models, and the companies running free models may keep and learn from what you send them. Don’t send Mortise anything private, such as passwords, personal details or code you can’t share. OpenRouter’s own privacy policy covers what happens there.

What we keep. We don’t store your conversations; they stay in the app until you close it or sign out. Our server logs each request’s time, your account ID and IP address, how many messages and characters it had and how many tokens the reply used, to keep Mortise running, limit abuse and plan capacity. It never logs what the messages say.

The update check

When the installed app starts, it asks tenonkit.com whether a newer version exists, and downloads it from there if one does. Like any request on the internet, this shows our server your IP address and which version of Tenonkit you have. We use it only to deliver the update.

Things your pages load

Your pages can include images, fonts or scripts hosted elsewhere. When Tenonkit shows such a page, your computer fetches them from those sites, which then see a request from you, as they would in a browser. The example components load sample photos from picsum.photos.

Preview runs on your own computer (127.0.0.1) and can’t be reached from other devices. Links you click open in your browser. Tenonkit only touches your clipboard when you choose Copy page HTML.

This website

tenonkit.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Its fonts are served from this site, not from another company.

If you sign in for Mortise, the sign-in page keeps you signed in using your browser’s local storage on this site. Nothing else reads it, and signing out removes it.

Like any website, the server that hosts it records basic details of each request, such as your IP address, the page and the time, to keep the site running and secure. We don’t use them to follow you.

Removing your data

Uninstalling Tenonkit keeps your projects in case you come back. To remove everything, uninstall it, then delete the %APPDATA%\Tenonkit folder. Since we never had a copy of your projects, there is nothing to ask us to delete.

If you made a Mortise account, email us from its address and we’ll delete the account and everything tied to it.

Changes and questions

If what Tenonkit sends ever changes, we’ll update this page and its date first. Questions: [email protected].
